S.T.E.M. Week

Monday March 10 - Friday March 14

This week Boys and Girls Club of Fort Atkinson is celebrating the sciences!

S.T.E.M. Week is an acronym that means Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Have you ever played with LEGOs, K'Nex, Lincoln Logs, or Erector Sets? If your answer is "yes," then you have already practiced engineering. Engineers have invented almost all the things we see, touch, and use every day!

Have you ever wondered what was in pond water? Or have you ever cooked or baked in the kitchen with your mom or dad? If your answer is "yes," then you have already thought about the complex world of science! Some examples of science include biology, chemistry, physics, geology, and more!

Do you like Nintendo 3DS's? Or iPads? Welcome to the world of technology! Technology affects the world around us every single day!

Mathematics is an important part of our world every day! It helps us figure out how to share our snacks evenly with our friends.

Whether you know it or not, you probably participate in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics every day.

Here are some videos about the different S.T.E.M. disciplines.

What is an Engineer?

What is a Scientist?

What kind of jobs can a mathematician do?

What is technology?

Below is a website that lists different inventions children from ages 6-16 have created. Think about what they have created and brainstorm an invention you would like to have created.

Once you have watched one of the videos above, leave a comment on the blog and tell us about how you use science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics in your daily life!
