EARTH WEEK!

EARTH DAY is an event that occurs every year on April 22. On this day events occur all around the world to celebrate and demonstrate support for environmental protection. The first earth day was celebrated in 1970 and more than 192 countries partake in the celebration. Earth day was originally going to first be celebrated on March 21, 1970 because it is the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere. A month later another Earth Day was founded by the United States Senator at this time and the date of April 22 was chosen as an environmental teach-in day. It took twenty years before Earth Day became worldwide and in 1990 there were organized events in 141 nations. The focus of Earth Day is on environmental issues. Below is the Earth Day anthem that was created in 2013 and it is sung to the song Ode to Joy:

"Joyful joyful we adore you our Earth in all its wonderment. Simple gifts of nature that all join into a paradise. Now we must resolve to protect her. Show her our love throughout all time. With our gentle hand and touch. We make our home a newborn world. Now we must resolve to protect her. Show her our love throughout all time. With our gentle hand and touch. We make our home a newborn world"
