Celebrating Veterans Day

This Saturday is an important day for the USA. Each year, on November 11, we honor those who have served in our military, during both wartime and peacetime. Memorial Day, which occurs in May, is intended to honor those who have died while serving, while Veterans Day is a day to honor and thank those veterans who are still living. Veterans Day also serves to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served - not only those who died - have sacrificed and done their duty. Here are some fun/fast facts:

The day Veterans Day is celebrated, November 11, is the anniversary of World War 1

There are 18.5 million veterans in the United States. Of those, 1.6 million are women.

9.2 million veterans are over the age of 65.

Please take some time to say thank you to a veteran!!

Also, a huge THANK YOU from all of us at BGC to all of our families for helping us collect candy for the Candy Buy Back, which gets sent to soldiers over seas. Your generous donation allowed us to send them some goodies as well as some letters that the kids were able to write for them, so Thank You!
