What is the Junior Staff Program?

The Junior Staff program is a mentoring program for youth entering 6th-8th grade. The Junior Staff will meet with the Junior Staff Coordinator and/or Club Staff to help with Club programming throughout the school year. The Junior Staff will be asked to schedule consistent afternoons with the Junior Staff Coordinator and/or Club Staff between the hours of 3pm-6pm at one of our Club sites.  The Junior Staff will shadow and assist Club Staff, assist in planning and carrying out a variety of programs for Club members, and participate in specific Junior Staff programs.

What kind of work will Junior Staff be doing?

Junior Staff members will be helping BGC staff with programming including planning, setting up, participating, assisting, leading and clean-up. Junior staff will be positive role models for our Club members and will participate in a variety of activities specific for Junior Staff but also for our regular Club program. Junior Staff will also have free time opportunities with their fellow middle school Junior Staff members but this is not a “hang out” program for teens.

Will I be paid for the work I’m doing? Is there a cost for Junior Staff?

Junior Staff positions are volunteer positions. The goal of the Junior Staff program is to develop good employment skills for the future including communication, working with youth, goal-setting and more. The Junior Staff will earn “Club Bucks” to purchase a variety of things including shirts, field trips, incentives and more.

There is a one-time $20 membership fee for Junior Staff.

What do I need to do to be considered?

Junior Staff positions are chosen through an application process. In order to be considered, you must submit a Junior Staff application. You will also be scheduled for an interview with the Director of Operations and a Club Staff member and/or the Junior Staff Coordinator.  Please complete, scan and email the application to the email address below, bring the application to one of our four Club sites between the hours of 3pm-6pm and give it to a BGC Staff member, or mail the application to Boys and Girls Club of Fort Atkinson, c/o Purdy Elementary School, 719 South Main Street, Fort Atkinson, WI 53538).
